Offline until Friday.

//Yes I’m afraid it’s the truth. I’m going away on a trip and will not have internet access. Now, I know it’ll be hard, to be so long without Loki, and I hope that none of you drop our boards because of my absence ;n; I’d reply now but I’m not even supposed to be online honestly.

So yes.

I will return swiftly on Friday. ;n;

As it had it, Loki generally did not sleep at night as he poured over his spell books and brushed up on his skills. Not that it was much needed. He was one of the best, if not the best, sorcerers in Asgard. He rubbed at his eyes, tired of staring at pages upon pages of ancient runes.

Being as it was night, he assumed no one else would be awake, and he exited his quarters silently, making his way out of his designated section of the Palace. How many times had he broken probation now? The question made him chuckle softly to himself. As if it much mattered. He hadn’t left the castle after all. Did they really expect him to stay in his room all day?

He continued along, stopping short when he spotted the male from earlier, once more, looking lost as he walked around idly. He resisted the urge to bring a hand to his face and shook his head. “Do you never learn Midgardian?” He called out, his voice echoing about the empty halls. “Should you not be in bed? I’m certain that this,” he paused to gesture to the area they were in, “Is not the West wing.”

Darcy spun on his heels, the boots he wore squeaking loudly on the smooth, marble tiles. He cringed at the sound, aware that being too loud meant noise carrying down the halls and likely alerting others to his presence. Of course Loki didn’t seem to care about that.

“What are you, my father? I’ll go to bed when I want, and I know this isn’t the West Wing. I’m looking for… well we passed it yesterday, it was like a courtyard? Maybe? A garden thing?”

He wasn’t half as nervous as he had been before, but he still felt the mad thrum of his heart picking up it’s pace under his ribs. In the dimly lit halls with only occasional lamp to light the walls, Loki’s face looked ghostly pale to Darcy, but far more ethereal too, it was strange to look at.

“I have a name, too,” he said boldly. “Not midgardian, thanks.”

Loki waved a hand as Darcy protested his questions, pausing when he asked for the way to the Gardens of Asgard. “Why do you want to see the gardens at night?” He questioned, arching a slim brow high. It was not a common thing. Most only wanted to see them in the daylight, to watch the way the sunlight hugged the blooms and the way the wind would dance among them.

At night it was a different story. Many of the plants, who went unnoticed during the day, bloomed in the moonlight and danced their own way. It was an amazing feat, something Loki himself had witnessed multiple times.

“Are you asking me to lead you once more, Midg-..Darcy?”

“Fresh air, and.. uh, I don’t know, gardens at night are tranquil and… shit,” he mumbled almost shyly. Why did Loki care? It wasn’t like he was asking to see more personal places, right? Darcy rubbed the back of his neck and then his own eyebrows raised as he was regarded properly, his name actually used. He dropped his hand against his hip.

“You don’t have to, I could just try to find this on my own, but if you did, that’d be pretty nice.”

Though it wasn’t exactly an invitation, now he couldn’t help but wonder if this was fate or something and if maybe he should have made it as much. “What about you, you’re not asleep.”

He brought a hand up, turning on his heel and began walking, gesturing for Darcy to follow him and keep up. “If I do not lead you, I can only assume you’ll get yourself lost once more. Honestly, should I have Thor draw you a map?”

Loki continued walking, answering the accusation as he did so. “I generally do not sleep at night.” How could he? Knowing his entire life had been a lie. Knowing that he himself was the very monster he had feared growing up. It was enough to keep anyone up at night.

“We have not settled our differences, as you so put it. As it stands, I am not on speaking terms with Thor.” He tensed as the door began to open, expecting Thor to step out upon mere mention of his name.

“Even if I wanted to harm the oaf..he wouldn’t stay down. Even Hel herself wouldn’t be enough to drag him down as it seems.” Loki answered and as the door swung open to reveal Thor and Jane, the trickster was gone, a green swirl of smoke the only thing that showed he had ever been standing near Darcy.

“… So you don’t want to-” the door opened with great gusto and in a matter of seconds Loki was gone, Thor and Jane were standing in his place, and Darcy was left looking at nothing but the inky trails of green smoke that were left in his wake.

He felt oddly enough shafted, his question cut off as was the whole conversation. Of course he was also pretty relieved because he had been fairly nervous the whole time as well. So why did he frown so deeply?

“Hey.. Darcy uh..”

“I got lost,” he said quickly and then he shuffled into the room to keep from having to answer any other questions.

Later that night, Darcy couldn’t sleep. He was restless, a combination of what was some kind of galactic jet lag and something else he couldn’t quite put his finger on. The clothes for sleeping seemed to be a fair better fit for him, longer, looser shirts and breeches. He wished he had the luxury of some damn fruit of the loom boxers though.

For a good two hours after everyone else slept, Darcy’s mind wandered and replayed the earlier conversations. The longer he laid there and let his thoughts collect the more he came to decide he wasn’t as scared of Loki as he thought he was.

In fact, the more he thought about it… well, he kind of felt bad for the guy. On a whim he got out of bed and decided maybe walking about one of the courtyards would help him sleep. Once out of the west wing he tried to find his way to one he saw on his way back from the wing where Loki stayed.

And he got lost, again.

“God damnit, this place needs a map!”

She frowned and looked down. “Not much.. but I think this can do.” She flicked her wrist as black jeans formed on her skinny legs. Wearing a black silk jacket with blue lines on the undersides of her arms and down her sides. Tipped off with black leather boots. She smiled down at herself and looked to him, hoping he would agree with this one.

He gave a nod of approval, though he really did question Midgard’s sense of fashion or lack of. “That is what I was hoping for.” He waved a hand again, starting to walk once more in the direction of the town.

Loki hesitantly brought his arms down when she said she wouldn’t hit him, though his guard remained raised. She was quick on the intake, knowing he couldn’t talk but she assumed it was part of a punishment, and perhaps that was better than the truth, so he gave a quick nod.

It wasn’t an outright lie. He had been punished with silence before. If one would alter the timelines, it could have easily have happened once more.  He couldn’t stay out in the streets much longer. If a normal female could tell who he was, who was to say someone else wouldn’t recognize him?

Anna took a long sip of her coffee and finished it, she leaned over to throw it into the trashcan on the side of the street, narrowly missing a woman walking past her. “What?!” She snapped at the woman upon seeing the dirty look she gave her. As she watched her walk back down the street she turned her attention back to him. “This is making you uncomfortable isn’t it?” She smirked. “Out in the open, where anyone could recognise you?”

She knew in all reality that everyone was far too pre-occupied with their own lives to notice him out on the street, blending in so well with everyone else. If it hadn’t been for how many times she had watched the news reports over and over again, even she would have kept walking after she ran into him. That still didn’t mean she wasn’t going to enjoy making him uncomfortable. “People must have already tried to hurt you right?” She asked quietly. “But have you ever once listened to them? Heard what they had to say and what you put them through? Because even now I can see that you’re thinking of running.”

He narrowed his eyes as she addressed him in such a rude tongue. Of course he was uncomfortable. Must she point out the obvious? His mind screamed at him, to get out of there, and as he turned to do just that he heard her continue on and opened his mouth to snap back at her. Of course he had heard what they said. He had seen the damage. He had paid the price back on Asgard.

Loki snapped his mouth shut once more, knowing it was pointless. He couldn’t speak. So instead he nodded, rolling his eyes and crossing his arms over his chest.

‘If I take off, are you simply going to chase after me?’ He mouthed, unsure if she could read lips or not.

She looked at him confusingly, trying to decide what she would wear. With a flick of her wrist her armor changed into… Loki’s outfit. Same size and all. The sleeves beyond her hands and the larger shoulders drooping. Her pant legs scrunched up and a long scarf that nearly took up her whole neck. She looked up to him, being consumed in the heat. Smiling a bit thinking she had done it right as she flapped her sleeves a bit.

“That does not help our situation in the slightest.” Loki mumbled as he shook his head and brought a hand up to cover his face. “I changed my clothing to blend in. You will not blend in if you do the exact opposite.” Really, he didn’t have the patience for children, “What do Midgardians your age wear? Do you even know?”
